Early Childhood-Special Education
Philosophy
|
| The Early
Childhood-Special Education program is a structured instructional
environment which meets the individual needs of children ages three to
six. These may lie in the areas of cognition, language,
gross/fine motor, and/or social interactions. Curricular
instruction is provided in large and small groups as guided by the
student's Individual Education Plan (IEP). Program personnel
working together with parents will provide for the development of the
whole child. The overall goal of the Early Childhood-Special
Education program is to assist children in the development of skills
necessary to enhance learning. |

| Lekotek
services
are available for children with special needs, ages' birth to 7 years,
and their families. The primary service is the play session,
where our Lekotek Leader focuses on facilitating positive family
interaction through play. The sessions are designed to emphasize
family enhancement through the creative use of toys, special play
materials, and assistive technology. Staff can also provide
support and resource information to families. |
