Dave Termunde | Chief of Innovation, Technology, and Operations | Project Manager

Dave Termunde has a unique background in technology, business, and education. His understanding of the three areas has allowed him to make a direct impact on students and their learning with technology. While holding a Master of Education in Curriculum & Instructional Technology from National Louis University and a Bachelors in Technical Management from DeVry University, he has rebuilt the technology department at the district to create an impactful change. Dave is also actively studying at Capella University for a Master in Business Administration and Project Management. He currently holds his Project Management Professional (PMP) from PMI, CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Project+, Microsoft MIE, Cybersecurity Coalition for Education’s Certified Cybersecurity Rubric Evaluator (CCRE), Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt, ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity, and Cisco CCST Networking and Cybersecurity certifications. Dave also holds his CTT+ from CompTIA meeting their high standards and requirements of demonstrating competency in teaching and instruction of technology and is an Advanced Certified Cisco Instructor. He is a Subject Matter Expert for the ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity exam to aid in upholding the integrity and precision of exam topics and questions as well as sits on the advisory board for the CCRE exam.

At Arbor Park School District, Dave has reimagined the K-8 education space with his passion and excitement for projects. With his experience as a Cisco Networking Academy Instructor for 17 years at Moraine Valley Community College, he knows how to prioritize teacher’s needs to give them exactly what they need to help our students learn and retain that new knowledge. Inspired by his experience in the retail industry, he has engineered a functional courtyard space for students featuring areas to study, collaborate, and have fun, redesigned the media center with an inviting, student-centered atmosphere featuring a one-of-a-kind Microsoft Dock Lab, and refreshed classrooms with 21st century furniture and aesthetic paired with scientific research to promote student engagement, collaboration, and life-long learning. Dave has revamped the network with new infrastructure accompanied by an improved, future-proof design. Because of this, he has ensured an optimal, tech-integrated classroom experience for every staff member and student. Dave is student-centered and always thinking of new ways to help our students succeed.

 

Joe Staszewski | Assistant Director of Technology

Joe currently holds a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology from Governors State University. He holds his CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft MIE, Cybersecurity Coalition for Education’s Certified Cybersecurity Rubric Evaluator (CCRE), and Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt certifications. He has over 6 years of experience working in the education technology field and is well-versed in the creation of processes and procedures to streamline workflows. His passion for education and impacting students’ lives shows daily and he understands the critical need to shape the future generation through the use of technology. As a leader of the technology department, Joe oversees day-to-day functionality of the Panda Team in order to optimize efficient and effective support for our staff, students, and parents. He also has a deep understanding of complex data structures and data flows throughout the network which enable the integration of a multitude of software, applications, and curriculum. He also manages the district’s SIS platform, student standardized testing, and all software licenses/vendors ensuring SOPPA compliance.

 

Jared Suarez | Endpoint Device and Systems Manager

Jared currently holds his Associate of Applied Science in Networking from Moraine Valley Community College. Jared currently holds numerous certifications including his CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity, Cisco CCST Networking, and Microsoft Azure Fundamentals and Endpoint Administrator Associate. Jared thinks critically and is a problem-solver with a future-forward mindset providing ideal solutions for any device or network issue. Jared manages all of our in-house Microsoft training for onboarding new staff and re-training existing staff while ensuring all district-administered devices are sufficiently managed. He tests device hardware and verifies the devices have the appropriate applications/features and are running smoothly throughout the school year. He plays a vital role in asset management and district-wide technology life cycle management. Jared also effectively manages our multimedia whether it be livestreams, after school gaming equipment, or event setups, providing an enjoyable experience for students, staff, and parents.

 

Tyler Derickson | Cybersecurity and Systems Administrator

Tyler holds his Associate of Science with a focus in engineering from Moraine Valley Community College and will graduate from Governors State University with a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology this fall. He actively holds certifications including CompTIA's Network+, Security+, and CySA+, ISC2's Certified in Cybersecurity and Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP), Cybersecurity Coalition for Education’s Certified Cybersecurity Rubric Evaluator (CCRE), and is a Certified Cisco Networking Academy Instructor. Tyler also sits on the advisory board for the CCRE exam. He has directly managed our cybersecurity-focused summer camps, classroom and district-wide integrations of cybersecurity, secure device/network infrastructure design and upgrades, as well as performs technical cybersecurity evaluations for the district every day. He is continuously learning new ways to increase the cybersecurity posture throughout the district by staying up to date with cybersecurity best practices, threats, and vulnerabilities. Tyler is also a published author with an article focused on the complexities and challenges of authentication methods in the K-12 space, why it is important to have strong authentication methods, and exposing common myths regarding them.

 

Tyree Brown | User Support Specialist

Tyree currently holds his Computer Support Associate and Computer Technician certificates from Moraine Valley while finishing his Associate of Applied Science in IT Security. Tyree also holds his Cybersecurity Coalition for Education’s Certified Cybersecurity Rubric Evaluator (CCRE) certification. He is a committed member of the Panda Team with the ability to complete support tickets quickly and accurately to guarantee our users are taken care of. Tyree also is responsible for digital signage district-wide which include things like announcements, extra-curricular activities, and cybersecurity tips. He assists with network equipment installation and monitoring as well as district-wide printer management.
